BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree preferred. Bachelor's Degree required. Prince William County WJIII Certification of Proficiency. PWCS is interested in candidates with ESL and bilingual credentials and foreign language fluency.

BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:

Endorsement in one area of special education program exceptionality and training in the area of educational diagnostic assessment. The Educational Diagnostician will be responsible for providing the education assessment component for special education eligibility determination and program planning and participating in eligibility determinations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:

1. Have knowledge of the different disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and educational implications of the disabilities. 2. Required to participate in the eligibility determination process. 3. Administer a wide variety of standardized achievement tests, criterion- referenced tests, informal tests and developmental measures to determine the educational functioning of the student, ages Kindergarten through High School. 4. Interpret educational assessment results to administrators, teachers and parents. 5. Interpret Operational Criteria Worksheet eligibility criteria to administrators, teachers, and parents. 6. Follow and adhere to state and local special education procedures as outlined in the PWCPS Special Education Manual. 7. Assist in providing appropriate adaptations and interventions to classroom teachers for children who are experiencing academic delay and/or are suspected of having an educational disability. 8. Serve as a resource person in assisting the schools with complex diagnostic and remedial cases. 9. Serve as a liaison between special education central office and school staff. 10. Participate in the preparation and development of training on the administration and interpretation of educational assessments. 11. Complete educational evaluations within 65 administrative day timeline and have reports typed and available at the school or central office two business days prior to the eligibility meeting. 12. Other duties as assigned.
