    Expectations of Coaches:

    Job Goal:
    • Instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training so that players understand the sport.
    • Assist student-athletes to receive instructions and guidance that lead to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride, accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence and good sportsmanship.
    Performance Responsibilities:
    • Well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport. Looks at ways to constantly improve knowledge of coaching techniques. Is innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas.
    • Begins pre-season practice on the first day permitted for that sport by the OHSAA. Develop appropriate training programs and practice schedules.
    • Cooperate in a timely manner with the Athletic Office in regarding requests for all rosters, bus departure times, physical, parent permission and emergency medical forms, pre-season and post-season reports, program information relative to that sport or any other additional information that might be periodically required.
    • Check on status of academic eligibility for all prospective team members and work cooperatively with the District Athletic Department.
    • Meets all requirements set forth by State Board of Education relative to coaching certifications.
    • Follows, maintain knowledge, and be aware of all District Policy(ies) and Procedures as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and set set forth by Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), CPS Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principal, Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference, Miami Valley Conference and/or Eastern Cincinnati Conference.
    • Follows appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
    • Enforces discipline policies and emphasizes sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles.
    • Schedule and complete a full season of contests including the entire League schedule..
    • Set a positive example at all times while with student athletes. Is appropriately dressed at all practices and games.
    • Enters his/her team in the OHSAA-sponsored State Tournament for that sport and competes in all scheduled contests.
    • Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to team members in writing prior to the start of the season.
    • Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
    • Maintain suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all games with respect to players, officials, and fans.
    • Show physical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport and uses good judgment in decision-making.
    • Accepts and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
    • Develop respect through his/her example in appearance, behavior, language and conduct at all times.
    • Game plans and strategies reflect the positive utilization of scouting reports, videotape exchanges (where applicable), etc.
    • Ensure that team is well prepared for opponent(s).
    • Provide motivation for team to meet/exceed their goals and stress the value of acceptable personal behavior by each team member.
    • Actively promotes good sportsmanship at all times.
    • Maintains accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.

    TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS:
    • Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate desired.
    • Have exceptional high school or college head coaching experience or evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is preferred.
    • Provide a satisfactory result on a County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check. Possess an Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit. Provide proof of current CPR and First Aid training/certifications. Provide proof of "What You Need to Know About Concussions" and Fundamentals of Coaching Certifications from the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHSlearn.com). Provide proof of satisfactory completion of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Training/Certifications.
    • Have demonstrated excellence in both performance and administrative aspects of head coaching.
    • Have demonstrated excellence and mastery in all aspects of teaching and training.

    CONTRACT PROVISIONS:

    TYPE OF CONTRACT: Supplemental Annual Limited

    SALARY: Per Schedule E of current C.F.T. Labor Agreement
