BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

The Visions Program Teacher should possess: Bachelor's degree in education; Minimum of one year of teaching; e Valid five-year teaching certificate in any area; and ' Ability to relate well to people of all cultural, ethnic, religious, social, and political backgrounds. The Visions Program Teacher is responsible for providing English instruction to limited English proficient adult students including curriculum development, evaluation of student progress, and accurate maintenance of all student records. Classroom instruction should be interactive and incorporate a variety of teaching techniques, materials, and resources.

STATE REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor's degree is required and experience working with limited English proficient students, to include experience with language instruction.

BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:

The Visions Program Teacher will: Initially plan for and assess the academic needs of limited English proficient adult students; Provide English insfruction to limited English proficient adult students; Develop and implement ins�uctional lessons based on student proficiency level using content standards; Provide ongoing feedback to students and coordinators; Analyze student progress to identify areas for improvement; Attend staff development, training, and professional activities to improve/maintain knowledge of English as a Second Language; and Administer ongoing formative and summative assessments as appropriate.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:

Work collaboratively with all stakeholders in Providing A World-Class Education; Responsible for teaching Adult Basic Education, General Education Diploma (GED) and Pre-GED courses using instuctional methods geared toward the adult learner in a classroom setting; Plan lessons and curriculum based on the leaming needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students which prepare students to pass the GED tests and/or enhance basic education skills; Responsible for teaching the GED test areas (literature, writing, social studies, science, and math) or adult basic education skills areas (writing, math, language); Plan and prepare relevant and practical class lessons and monitor student performance; Implement a variety of ins�uctional delivery methods, that include group or individualized insfruction as well as computer programs that help students make learning gains; Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; Administer the Test for Adult Basic Education to determine individual progress; Creating a climate that encourages and supports learning; May lead and direct the work of others; Complete and maintain appropriate student registration, attendance, and assessment records; Responsible for effective classroom management that enhances student learning; and Complete other duties as assigned.
