POSITION SUMMARY

Serve as an instructional leader for the district and overseeing the supervision of building principals and the teaching staff.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Superintendent Supervises: Building principals, teaching staff, technology staff

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Develop and implement a curriculum that reflects the Illinois Learning Standards and District developed goals in an integrated K-8 curriculum.Coordinate the development and implementation of a comprehensive staff development program to support all aspects of the District's curriculum and weave technology into the processWork with stakeholders to identify benchmark skills by grade level and subject area to provide checkpoints for each student's successful progress toward achieving State and local goalsCoordinate staff development activities to ensure that multiple literacy's will lead to problem solving, critical thinking, communication, and technological competencies are in place.Analyze student achievement data in relation to the Illinois Learning Standards and District goals to drive the improvement of teaching and learningWork with building administrators to meet all the State requirements in the timely development of School Improvement PlansDevelop a District wide format that clearly communicates District goals as related to student achievement.Provide staff development in technology and support the integration of technology into the curriculum.Ensure the development and implementation of appropriate technology support to develop a state-of-the art media center in each building in School District 159.Facilitating communication process to allow parent representatives to provide input on curriculum.Oversee District Mentoring Program.Monitor teacher certifications and evaluations of certified teaching staff.Evaluate building administrators' performance appraisals.Develop district calendar and submit to the Regional Office of Education for approval; develop calendars for district/building administrators, district clerical staff and building clerical staff.Oversee hiring of general classroom and special area teachers in collaboration with building principals.Approve and monitor step and lane advancements for certified staff; monitor approvals for leave of absence for certified staff.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • A valid Illinois Type 75 (General Administrative or Superintendent) Certificate/EndorsementMasters Degree
