Position Overview
The Whittle School & Studios' academic model is rooted in deep mastery of foundational skills and content expertise, coupled with support in developing a growth mindset that builds stamina, confidence, and resilience over time. The Whittle School Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum curates and combines the best curricula from around the world. The Whittle learning environment seeks/endeavors to globalize science and engage in collaboration and exchange worldwide. The Upper School Physical Sciences/Engineering teacher will draw from the Next-Generation Science Standards Framework (U.S.), China's national science standards, and other international curricular standards, augmented by/supplemented with grounding in standards used in the top American independent schools. The tools and information sources available for today's students are changing the possibilities for how we study atomic compounds. As a member of an interdisciplinary instructional team that employs project-based, personalized, multi-disciplinary, inquiry-based approaches to teaching and learning, the Upper School Science teacher will facilitate a combination of the core courses in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, related electives, and interdisciplinary STEM projects. Additionally, this teacher will:
• genuinely enjoy the company of adolescents
• be passionate about developing a relationship and sense of trust with each student
• seek to engage with students both in the classroom and the greater Whittle community in a variety of ways outside the     classroom

The following are highly desirable qualifications for the listed position:
* Bachelor's degree BA/BS in specific field or post graduate work in subject matter required
* Master's level degree or above in content area preferred
* Linguistic proficiency in Mandarin Chinese highly desirable
* Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an independent school environment
* Participates in professional learning communities, grade-level teams, and other collaborative communities to design and    plan instructions, to improve practice, and to achieve student outcomes
* Drive and energy to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

Whittle School & Studios offers our staff very competitive total compensation packages that are either at or above market, depending on the position.
