TITLE: Substitute Security Assistant I

REQUIRED TRAINING:

*High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

*Must have 132 hours of Private Security Officer Basic Training (OPOTA)

or other comparable certification with district approval.

EXPERIENCE:

Work experience with youth groups in multi-ethnic situations preferred.

SKILLS:

*Must have ability to communicate verbally.

*Must be able to work with students.

*Must have the ability to maintain discipline in the school setting and on playgrounds

with groups of students.

*Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.

REPORTS TO:

Principal of the school or his/her designee.

JOB GOALS:

To assist in the maintaining of a safe school environment for students and staff.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Patrols and supervises hallways, restrooms, entranceways, and boiler room.
2. Keeps building clear of people not on official school business.
3. Assists visitors by giving directions and needed explanations.
4. Takes school rule offenders to school authorities.
5. Assists as directed by school authorities in stopping disturbances and undue

distractions in the school and on school grounds.
6. Confers with the principal on matters of concern
7. Assists law enforcement officers as directed by the principal.
8. Attends safety and other meetings as requested by the Supervisor of Security.
9. Completes daily report; reports to Security Services all violations.
10. Performs other duties as required.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Hourly rate employee is governed by current salary Schedule.
