Position Summary
The Curriculum & Assessment Assistant Group Manager will oversee the performance of test developers and scheduling and resource allocation across the company’s project portfolio. The manager will manage the quality of item and test development deliverables and the development process, and will recommend process improvements to department and division leadership. The incumbent will manage all test development activities for one or more projects. Additional responsibilities include the following:
*Supervise and mentor staff and contract team members (including salaried and freelance test developers) in all aspects of item and test development.
*Create, communicate, and manage performance expectations for staff.
*Orient staff to company, division, and job, and provide ongoing support as needed.
*Provide timely developmental feedback, coaching, and training to staff and contract team members to achieve contract goals and to nurture staff members’ movement through career paths.
*Conduct performance reviews and goal-setting for staff, including collaboration with other managers (as appropriate).
*Maintain the group’s standard operating procedures and other specifications.
*Participate in and foster a collaborative work environment within a highly interdependent organization.
*Champion new division and company initiatives.
*Serve on division or company committees, task forces, etc.
*Review/oversee all test development activities for all projects for which the group is responsible.
*Create detailed work schedules for staff.
*Monitor staff work against schedules and report results to group manager on a regular basis.
*Conduct internal reviews of staff work products to assure quality and adherence to specifications.
*Develop supplementary materials (e.g., assessment guides, brochures, and sample question packets).
*Assist with test developer activities during peak times.
Qualification
Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of experience managing staff in an education environment, including a minimum of five years of combined classroom teaching and/or educational assessment experience
An advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) may be substituted for two (2) years of teaching experience
