Applicants Sought For Public School District Superintendency in Utah
The Canyons Board of Education seeks applicants for the position of Superintendent. The successful applicant for the position, which reports directly to the Board of Education, will have substantial K-12 classroom and administrative experience; experience working with diverse populations; and robust speaking and writing communication skills, in addition to a working knowledge of online and social media platforms.
The new Superintendent will be honest, forthright, charismatic, and approach challenges with creativity. Furthermore, the Board seeks an organized, visionary and forward-thinking leader who knows how to plan strategically, delegate tasks and hold others accountable for their duties. He or she will bring new ideas to the table, collaborate effectively, and be willing to play a visible role in the community. While a Ph.D. or Ed.D. is preferred, experience will be considered for equivalency.
Canyons School District is the first new school district to be created in Utah in nearly a century. From the time of the District’s founding on July 1, 2009, both the elected Board of Education and Administration have maintained a fierce dedication to building a district of national distinction. To that end, Canyons District focuses its attention on four major tenets: student achievement, innovation, community engagement and customer service. The District, which covers roughly 192 square miles in the southeast part of the Salt Lake Valley, serves approximately 33,000 students in 29 elementary schools, eight middle schools, five high schools and four special programs.
