Westfield Friends School Interim Head of School

Westfield Friends School, an independent pre-K-8 Friends School, seeks an Interim Head of School to fill a one-year contract while the school undertakes the search for a full-time Head of School. The interim position is July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. The Interim Head may apply for the position of Head of School when that search opens in the coming year.

Westfield Friends school has one class each pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade. Working in a caring environment, faculty and staff in the school nurture the spiritual, emotional, and social growth of students by developing responsibility, discipline, and self-confidence. The school seeks to graduate students who are well organized, self-reliant, respectful of themselves and others, and academically well prepared to succeed in high school. 

The successful candidate will possess:

• The ability to exemplify the Quaker principles of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality and stewardship
• An advanced degree in a field related to education
• School administration experience
• Intellectual curiosity and evidence of relevant academic success
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to use all communication technology to support clear communication with audiences internal and external to the school
• Collaborative and consensus building leadership style
• Strategic planning skills as evidenced by planning experience
• Financial acumen related to school finance, fundraising, and budgeting
• Marketing and community outreach skills
• The ability to recruit, evaluate, train and retain exemplary faculty and staff
• Experience with curriculum development and related professional development
• A desire to be visible and present in the day to day life of the School
• A demonstrated commitment to multiculturalism and diversity
• The ability to maintain the school's nurturing and positive culture
• A successful history of balancing the needs and desires of school families, faculty, staff, and administration
