Coordinates effective instructional practices for high achievers and gifted and talented students within the school district. Responsible for designing, monitoring, leading, supporting, and implementing comprehensive programs that support varying levels and areas of giftedness grades Pk-12. Collaborates with Content Area Coordinators and Directors of Instruction from Leadership and Learning and Instructional Support to ensure schools and the district are providing appropriate educational opportunities for this group of students. Assists schools and the district in the development and implementation of a strategic reorganization plan and the policies and procedures related to identification, talent development, and services of high achievers and gifted and talented students.
Provides department-related leadership, training, coaching, guidance, and support that enable schools and those served to maintain the highest level of integrity while serving the educational needs of the school district in both general and special classes.
Coordinates the alignment of instruction and assessment for the gifted learner with school, state and national standards; and the development and implementation of screening, identification, and service delivery timelines and/or windows for gifted and talented services.
Communicates regularly with all constituents in a variety of communication mediums regarding pertinent dates, policies, procedures, and additional talent development opportunities to district initiatives and the identification and services for gifted education.
Coordinates and provides ongoing, comprehensive professional development focused on gifted identification, curriculum, instruction, assessment, and other key factors of gifted education for teachers, parents and other key stakeholders.
Serves on district committees focused on improving instructional practices and effective curriculum and interventions. Selects appropriate challenging curriculum for students? who show aptitude for advanced studies.
Works in collaboration with Department of Research and Evaluation to collect ongoing student growth and achievement data; and school principals to ensure the needs of gifted and talented learners are addressed.
Administrative license/endorsement and teacher certification is required in a content area and in the area of gifted and talented.
Eight (8) years' applicable experience required with three (3) of those years in an administrative role.
Masters' degree in related field from an accredited college or university required; Educational Specialist or Doctorate preferred
