The Tuscaloosa County Board of Education is seeking a bold leader with strong interpersonal and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will be a team builder who can collaboratively develop a system vision that excites, unites and motivates students, the community and employees. A doctorate is preferred but not required.

Qualifications:

The Superintendent must: hold a degree from a recognized four-year college or university, doctorate preferred; have or be eligible for Alabama certification as a superintendent; have three years’ successful experience as a teacher, principal, supervisor or superintendent in the last five years; have five years of public school experience, preferably a broad range of elementary and secondary experience; have demonstrated ability in group dynamics and working with people of varying backgrounds and interests; be able to view all aspects of issues and deal fairly with differing views; demonstrate knowledge of school finance and educational research and methods; be able to delegate authority; and be of good character, high moral standing and integrity.
