Needham Public Schools seeks outstanding applicants for the position of Principal at the Eliot Elementary School serving 391 students in grade K-5.

The leadership team at Eliot consists of the Principal, a .7 Special Education Administrator/.3 Assistant Principal and seven Teacher Leaders. The School Leadership Team (SLT) consists of eight Principals, four Assistant Superintendents and the Superintendent of Schools. The SLT is an amazing group of thoughtful administrators who support each other's work and truely enjoys a collaborative and professional relationship. The District Leaderhip Team (DLT) includes an elementary math curriculum coordinator, literacy curriculum coordinator, science center coordinator, English Language Learner coordinator, and K-12 Directors in the areas of Metco, technology, guidance, health and wellness, nursing, fine and performing arts, and world languages. Our elementary schools have curriculum coaches in the areas of math, literacy and technology. Eliot School has a full time nurse, 1.4 guidance counselors, four special education teachers, a full time speech pathologist, a part-time occupational therapist and 12 special education teaching assistants. Classroom teachers and specialists are high performing professionals who have created a wonderful learning place for our terrific students.

The school district enjoys tremendous support from the School Committee, parents, Town Manager, Selectman and Finance Committee. We work collaboratively with Needham's Youth Services, Public Health, Park and Recreation, Police and Fire, Public Facilities, Library and Council on Aging. Needham is a terrific place to work!

The district seeks an experienced administrator with demonstrated success as an elementary school leader. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years as an Elementary school principal or assistant principal or similar leadership experience with a Master's degree or higher in educational leadership. The salary and benefits will be highly competitive. Other qualifications include:
• Proven ability as an instructional leader for students, parents and teachers
• Successful experience working with parents and community constituent groups
• Superior abilities in hiring staff, supervision and evaluation
• Highly organized with the ability to manage many demands
• Ability to use data to promote student growth
• Experience in providing highly effective professional development to a very strong and committed staff
• Past experience as an outstanding elementary teacher
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license as an Elementary School Principal

The salary and benefits will be highly competitive for the region. Six weeks paid vacation, 15 sick days, two personal days and participation in Town benefits including medical, dental and life insurance.

Selection Procedure:
All resumes will be screen and selected candidates will participate in a thorough interview process (please see the attached timeline). The closing date to apply for this position is January 19, 2018. Applicants selected will be interviewed in January and will meet with the initial interview committee. Semi-finalists will be selected to meet with the Superintendent, central office administrators and the district's principals. The third interview will consist of finalists spending the day in the district learning about the Eliot school community and larger Needham community. The final step in the process will include a site visit to the finalists school and district.
