ABOUT THE POSITION

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) seeks an accomplished leader with considerable experience aligning employment needs with systems and resources to  ensure successful and effective support practices provided to schools.

 

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Serves as a leader accountable for development, planning, and implementation of the processes to enhance HR programs or functions.

  • Provides overall direction for the processing of personnel assignment actions for personnel who are paid on the Teacher Preparation or Special Services Salary Tables, substitute employees, physicians and dentists, teacher assistants, professional experts, medical experts, community representatives, and student aides.
  • Provides guidance and technical assistance to District personnel and external stakeholders regarding certificated personnel placement and assignment policies and procedures, the District-UTLA Agreement, the Modified Consent Decree, and resolutions to a broad range of personnel matters.
  • Coordinates the compilation of the necessary information to compute teacher allotments based on enrollment data plus authorized off-norm positions.
  • Directs the preparation and maintenance of school staffing reports to determine norm and off-norm positions authorized; reviews monthly classification reports to verify school compliance and monitor staff integration.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • At least eight years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), no fewer than two years of which must have been in a management position(s)
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential (Out-of-state applicants must qualify for a California credential upon selection)
  • An earned master’s degree
  • Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework (Candidates have one year to complete this requirement)
