Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Blaine County School District #61 is looking for an energetic, dedicated, passionate leader to serve as the Assistant Superintendent. The ideal candidate will be a forward thinker who can assist the Superintendent and Administrative Council in carrying out our progressive strategic plan. The position creates an exciting opportunity for the right individual to work with a talented group of administrators and Board of Trustees to fulfill an innovative, community-generated strategic plan that will prepare our students to successfully live and compete in a global society.

REPORTS TO:
The Superintendent of Schools.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Currently holds or is willing to obtain a valid Idaho Administrator’s Certificate endorsed for Superintendent.
• Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or Educational Specialist or ability to obtain such.
• Five or more years of prior successful experience as a classroom teacher preferred.
• Prior successful experience as an administrator or educational leader preferred.
• Staff professional development experience preferred.

• Offers a decision-making style that demonstrates common sense, allows for meaningful delegation of responsibilities and values the contributions of all employees.
• Possesses the ability to effectively define problems, collect data, establish facts, investigate and research, and draw fair and valid conclusions followed by the ability to obtain win/win solutions.
• Possesses the ability to cope with conflicting points of view, function under pressure, demonstrate discretion, integrity, fair-mindedness, and a persuasive, congenial personality.
• Possesses excellent communication skills, both oral and written. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administration, staff, students, parents and the school community are critical.
• Willingness to continuously educate themselves on Idaho code and statutes as well as educational/employment law issues.
• Competent with current technologies and possesses the ability to understand and embrace technological advancements.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists the Superintendent in the following areas:
o Acts as the Chief Academic Officer and works with the Superintendent to:
-Develop and implement educational activities and programs, both strategic and operational, including metrics to track and evaluate student progress.
-Oversee and compile District and State student data.
-Work with administrators/teachers to understand and focus instruction based on pertinent school/student data.
-Work with administrators/departments on compliance issues.
o Supervision and Evaluation of District Administrators/Principals.
o Implementation of the Strategic Plan.
o Planning and implementation of Professional Development for School District staff.
o Working with parents, administrators, and patrons to resolve school/District issues and or complaints as they may arise.
o Promote effective relationships with staff at all levels within the organization.

• Provides leadership for, and directly supervises the Human Resources Department. Responsibilities include:
o The professional development, supervision, and evaluation of all Human Resources Department employees.
o The orderly and effective maintenance of all personnel files and employee programs.
o Participation in/facilitation of the School District Policy Committee.
o Monitoring and administering personnel policies and collective bargaining agreements and records.
o Overseeing recruitment, hiring, and dismissal practices of the District.
o Overseeing employment/master contract issues, labor issues, and negotiations.
o Insures all staff are properly qualified for their positions.
o Keeps abreast of all changing laws in the area of employment.

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve-month (246-day) contract of employment.

COMPENSATION:
1. Annual Salary: $100,000 +, depending upon education and experience.
2. Comprehensive Benefit Package.
