The International Educator is featuring a unique job opening for a head of school at a very special international day and boarding school in Switzerland. This independent boarding and day school provides excellence in American education based on the traditional values and ideals of Western civilization, and is seeking an accomplished educational leader for September 2010. The school was established over a half century ago to provide an American boarding school institution in the heart of Europe, designed to prepare students for American colleges and universities and to introduce them to European culture and languages. The school's academic programs allow students to earn the American high school diploma and the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, providing access to colleges and universities in the United States and around the world. Accredited by both the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), today over 500 students are accommodated including day students (grades PreK-13) and boarding students (grades 7-13). The school's enviable location—perched on a hillside in one of the most beautiful locations in Switzerland that commands views of snow-capped mountains to the north, and a pristine lake to the south—makes possible an impressive travel program. Travel experiences throughout the year bring students face-to-face with the rich cultural heritage of Europe and the spectacular natural beauty of the Alps and beyond. The school is distinguished by both its diversity and its unity: students representing 50 nationalities with outstanding teachers who help direct students to know “the creations, achievements, traditions, and ideals from the past that offer purpose in the present and hope for the future.” General Qualifications: Qualifications include a solid liberal arts education, experience in boarding schools, administration, and hiring, as well as expertise in the management of school operations. International experience, a strong interest in European culture, and the ability to build rapport and loyalty with constituencies and faculty are indispensable. Deadline: The deadline for applications is October 1, 2009 How to Apply: Go to The International Educator Website at, subscribe to annual membership ($39/year), and follow directions for applying to this position. Your annual subscription will entitle you to view hundreds of international teaching and administrative positions at international schools around the world.
