The Addison Rutland Supervisory Union (ARSU) seeks candidates for Superintendent of Schools. Addison Rutland Supervisory Union is composed of four elementary schools, one middle school and one union high school. There are six towns that make up the Supervisory Union. The combined enrollment for the Supervisory Union is approximately 1,390 students. ARSU is located in the historic picturesque western portion of Rutland County called the Lakes Region and a portion of Addison County. It provides scenic landscape, lakes, rivers, mountains, historic sites and plenty of outdoor activities.
ARSU’s shared understandings are as follows:
- Building strong relationships is necessary for success.
- The community is an essential resource for the schools; the schools are an essential resource for the community.
- All teachers create a climate inspiring success for every student. Technology is utilized to enhance, support and individualize instruction. Students’ learning will be measured by a standards-based report card based on multiple measures of student performance.
- At the supervisory union level, decisions are made and resources are allocated based on the identified needs of schools in the district. A collaborative model of shared administrative leadership builds capacity with shrinking resources. An innovative technological system is in place that supports access to all resources for communication and learning.
The Board desires a student-centered, collaborative, dynamic, visionary leader and communicator who will promote continuous growth in student achievement, safe and respectful learning environments as well as equity. Preferred candidates will have successful leadership experience, spanning Pre-K through Grade 12 schools.
ARSU has centralized many administrative functions such as transportation, technology, food service, curriculum development, professional development and special education, increasing efficiencies where possible.
ARSU has been committed on determining the best options for governance consolidation under Act 46. It remains too early to know what the ultimate outcome will be for all of the schools, however some type of consolidation plan with multiple districts wll be presented to the voters this March.
Salary and benefits are competitive based on experience. Full-time position with beginning date of July 1, 2017.
